End of the Year To Do List & Information

We want to start out by saying Congratulations to each and every one of you. It was an absolute joy to teach you and we are so incredibly proud of you. Grade 12s, please keep in touch and bring us a grad photo (if you can).

Everyone, please help us out by taking care of a few housekeeping items before you sign off for the year. 😊

1. Grade 12 or moving students: If you still have any money left in your CHSBPA fundraising account, please let us know what you wish to do with those funds. Please email the CHSBPA @[email protected] (and CC me) to let them know what you wish to do. Your options are:
   • #1 – Transfer them/’donate’ them to a sibling, neighbour, friend, etc. in a younger grade. Please let us know which student they are to be transferred to.
   • #2 – Donate them to the general music program to help support/subsidize students who cannot afford the program. It will go into an account under Mrs. Waterbury’s name to help students out.
   • #3 – Sell them privately to another younger student. This has to be done completely on your own and then you can tell us which student the funds get transferred to.
2. CHS music uniforms: If you do not need it anymore (or have grown out of it), please return them to us (cleaned &  pressed). Your options are:
   • #1 – Donate them to the program to be given to a student who cannot afford one in the future.
   • #2 – Consign them (form is attached).
     • Hand back your uniform with a self-addressed (and stamped) envelope
     • You will be sent a cheque in the mail once the uniform is sold (could be right away in the fall, or could take a few years depending on the size demand).
   • **You can sell or donate all of the uniform or just parts of the uniform (for example – give back the vest and tie, but keep the black shirt)
3. It is possible that your child may still have old music around the car/house from the last year….or so. Please hand back any and all music that your child has. We have to spend typically $3-4 per sheet of music. It gets very expensive to replace. If possible, please return this music by Monday morning so that we have a chance to sort it and put it away. There is a box in the music room for ‘music to be returned’
4. Any instruments or equipment that belong to CHS/Rocky View, please bring them back by Monday as well so that we can take care of any cleaning/repairs for them before the fall
5. Grade 12 students: We encourage you to continue playing your instrument and/or singing in your university/adult life. There are so many community organizations and post-secondary ensembles to play and sing in all across our country. If you need any help finding an ensemble to create music with, please send us a note and we will be happy to help you connect with them. Many universities have band and choir ensembles that are open to non-music majors that you can take as an elective course (which most if not all degrees need). Music ensembles are amazing elective options to take in post-secondary… something super fun and creative outlet to participate in, and a way to keep you connected to a wonderful community of people.
6. Grade 9-11's: Keep up with your playing over the summer!!! It's great for your brain and for us when you return. :) 

 
Thank you again for being such incredible students and human beings. You make teaching a joy and a privilege. We will miss you dearly here at CHS. Enjoy a wonderful summer break and all the best for the next amazing steps in life.
