Just a reminder that the Concert Band will be doing our last field trip/feeder school concert THIS Monday, May 27 from 1:15 - 3:20 pm. We will be heading over to Manachaban by foot and participating in a joint rehearsal with their grade 8 band on a piece called Skyfall (from James Bond).  Following the joint rehearsal, we will perform a concert (including the joint/mass band piece) in front of their school population. :)

** Please ensure you child has the following with them:
- Instrument with anything they need to play it (reeds, valve oil, mallets, sticks, etc)
- Music (4 Concert Band pieces, plus Skyfall)
- Water bottle
- A warm sweater or jacket (even though we are just walking across the field, I do not want them getting sick if the weather is not very nice outside). 
- ** Permission Form (attached)
- ** Uniform - including appropriate dress bottoms (pants/skirt of appropriate length), black socks/ tights, black dress shoes!! Thank you! :)

Reminder about our performance, workshop and open rehearsal day at Bearspaw school: Tomorrow, Wednesday, may 22. Busses load at CHS school at 10:15am, arrives back at 2:30. 

** NO uniforms tomorrow - since we are doing a full day, they don't want students stuck in uniforms and logistically is too hard for them all to store their uniforms and change into them. 

* there IS still concert band tomorrow morning, Wednesday, May 22 at 7:15am! This is our second last rehearsal before our concert. Very important that all students are in attendance!

Our fabulous Jazz Combo already performed for Elizabeth Barrett school on Tuesday, April 23
All of our feeder schools were also invited and participated in dress rehearsals for both SiriOusly and Little Women during our performance seasons in December and April. 

However, it is time for us to get out there and do two more concerts. Please ensure your child is returning permission forms ASAP for these feeder school concerts.

** Students will be provided a pizza lunch from the generous donations of the Bearspaw band parents and will participate in both a workshop, open rehearsal and concert for their students.

Many thanks and congratulations goes out to the students and chaperones who came to California with us on tour. We learned many things that we will be bringing back into our classroom to teach all of our music students, and we had loads of fun! :) I want to commend the students on their behaviour, dedication to the arts, and representing Cochrane High School very well. A huge thank you goes out to Donna Pipa for helping organize everything and Cindy Westby our lovely travel planner/agent/guide/guru. Another big thanks needs to go out to Ellen Pennot, Dorothy Ellergodt, Mrs. Shirley Pepper, John Calhoun and Keith Rowe for their outstanding company and wonderful work being chaperones. We appreciate the time and dedication you put forward to help take 41 students on this amazing trip. Can't wait for next year. Bravo!!
