Hello Music Parents and Students,
It is Festival Time!!! :) :) ** If your child did not bring home a permission form last Wednesday, PLEASE have them drop it off to me Monday morning, prior to our 7:15 am rehearsal!! ** Permission form is attached to this email!** ** WE STILL need parent chaperones. I only have 1 parent who has volunteered! We need two more chaperones performance! Please please please contact me asap to let me know if you can attend. You can take the bus, or meet us at the University of Calgary Rozsa Center. Here is all of the information you need to know about festival: 1. All three performances are at the University of Calgary, Rozsa Center. The Rozsa Center is a white building, lying between the University Theatre/Cragie Hall, the Arts Parkade, MacEwan Hall, and the new Hotel Alma. Parking is expensive, so I suggest using the Arts Parkade versus the paylot parking. It gets pricy. A map is attached for your convenience. 2. Students will be bussed to and from the venue (by National Motor Coach - nice Coach busses), with their instrument. However, if for some reason, your child has arranged to meet us at the Rozsa Center, or is getting picked up from the Rozsa center, it is Their responsibility to ensure their instrument gets too and from school: either they load it on the bus themselves before leaving, or they have a trustworthy friend to bring their instrument to and from the school to the festival. We will not be loading or transferring any instruments ourselves, so your child has to take it themselves, or arrange for it to be taken. Thank you :) 3. Parents are more than welcome and encouraged to come and watch their child perform. The venue is open to all participating bands, parents and general community patrons. The festival is FREE of charge. :) IF you can attend, please consider helping to chaperone. Your only responsibilities are to ensure all students travel to and from each location safely and quietly! Help direct any questions or issues to myself, Miss LaBine, and to enjoy your time with us. As a chaperone you get to watch the performances AND the workshop. You get a backstage 'pass' sort to speak to watch the entire festival happen. 4. Students are required to ensure they have their instrument, music (with all measure numbers labeled), pencil, folder, extra reeds or valve oil (if needed for their instrument type), mallets/sticks for percussionists, mutes (if required), and anything else to ensure their instrument is in working condition. 5. All students need to ensure they are wearing the CHS uniform - Black DRESS bottoms (dress pants/dress skirt - to/below the knees), Black dress socks/nylons/tights, Black dress shoes, White dress shirt - button up with a collar. They must also be wearing a CHS blazer - students should have taken these home to ensure they are pressed and cleaned. ** Any new students who do not have a blazer will receive a blazer on Monday. We will need your damage deposit for the blazer asap. - Please contact Miss LaBine or the parent board for more information on the uniform deposit: [email protected] 6. All students should either arrive in uniform or have it available to change into... depending on time of festival (Concert Band and Senior Band can change at lunch time...
